Psychodynamic Psychotherapy & Trauma Recovery
About Me
My work in community mental health and medical clinics has allowed me to connect with people of varying ages and stages of life. It has also provided extensive experience working with individuals and families who have survived traumatic experiences and/or have a history of abuse. I specialize in working with most presentations of trauma (PTSD, CPTSD, dissociative disorders, etc.) as well as depression and anxiety.
My primary therapeutic orientation is psychodynamic. However, I have received formal training and consultation for the following modalities:
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) - A type of psychotherapy that helps individuals process traumatic experiences.
Interpersonal Psychotherapy - Attachment-focused psychotherapy that centers on resolving interpersonal problems.
Child-Parent Psychotherapy - Intensive therapy for children and their caregivers that helps heal from stressful or traumatic events by strengthening their relationship.
Services
My fee is $180 per 50-60 minute sessions for all services
Individual Therapy
Individual sessions aimed to discover your true emotional experience, highlight patterns of thought and behavior, and expand your understanding of inner motivations and expectations.
Couples/Family Therapy
EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. It is a type of psychotherapy that helps individuals process and heal from traumatic experiences. I utilize a modified EMDR protocol, involving art and sandplay, when working with children.
EMDR
Dyadic or group sessions aimed to explore how interpersonal patterns affect present relationship dynamics. The goal is to increase self-awareness, foster healthier communication, and lead to more emotional intimacy.
Approach to Healing
My practice focuses on helping people understand and move through their experiences, emotions, and desires- or lack thereof. Separating who we are or want to be from how we have been made to feel in the past by others or circumstances. This clarity of separation can help us be more present in the here and now as well as aid us in consciously choosing our path forward.
This clarity is facilitated through psychodynamic psychotherapy, an insight-based therapy that helps individuals understand the meaning of their behaviors, emotions, and experiences. A way of working that acknowledges that the past lives on in the present in various ways, is curious about the unconscious mental life (dreams, daydreams, and fantasies), and believes that we can have a mind in conflict (different “parts” of ourselves), etc.
